The 2010 Decorator Showhouse opens to the public today through May 2nd.  It is being held at the Longleaf Estate in Vestavia, formerly the Richard Scrushy Estate.  Blackjack Horticulture has worked extensivley to cleanup and recondition the estate grounds to what they used to be, as well as made minor changes around the front of the home.  Blackjack Horticulture installed all of the annual color and flowers you will see around the property, installed 4'x4' American Boxwoods around the front foundation, and new plant material around the main gate.  We overseeded the entire turf area (approx 7 acres) with Ryegrass to enhance the property with beautiful green grass during the tour.  The spring timing couldn't be any better with all of the azaleas in full bloom as well as many other plants.  The entire estate sits on approximately 10 acres not including the barn and stable area.  The house is a whopping 18,000 sq ft in size with a guest house, air conditioned dog kennel, and indoor car wash.  Click here to see a picture of the front entrance, with more pictures to be posted soon.
