Managment/Field Team
The employees at Blackjack Horticulture are what allows our company to serve you so well. We have quality employees that are dedicated to making sure you are more than satisfied with the service you receive. Our managment team consists of 5 horticulture graduates from Auburn University. Auburn is considered to have one of the top Landscape Horticulture schools in the Southeast, if not the nation. Our staff is knowledgable in the wide array of plant material, its uses, and its care, and can help you determine what works in each situation. Our field employees are the heart of what we do. They ensure that the plan is implemented properly and that the work performed is of the highest quality. Most of our field employees have been working with our company for several years, many of them since the company was started.
Kim Byram
Kim graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Landscape Design/Horticulture. Upon graduation he went to work for a nursery and landscape company in Tuscaloosa, AL for 3 years, and then after a relocation began working for a company building golf courses and athletic fields until October of 2000. While working for these companies Kim gained extensive experience in the landscape and athletic field business. Some of the projects that he managed include the University of Mississippi's football field construction, Vanderbilt University's baseball field construction, and various projects for Greystone and Birmingham Country Clubs. Kim is married and has 3 children and is very active in his church and community of Nauvoo, AL where he and his family live.
Bryan Word
Bryan graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in Landscape Design/Horticulture and a minor in business. In August of 2000, Bryan began working for Blackjack Gardens as a landscape installation supervisor. Throughout college Bryan owned and operated a small landscape company in his hometown of Guntersville, AL and worked for Southern Homes and Gardens in Montgomery. Since working for Blackjack, Bryan has managed landscape projects such as the new UAB University Hospital, UAB Womens' and Infants' Center, Dawson Baptist Church Chapel addition, Trinity United Methodist Church addition, along with various residential projects. Residing in Birmingham, Bryan and his wife have one child and are very active in their church and other community groups.
